ABOUT

Czechs in America Organization (CIAO) is working to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to fostering the appreciation, understanding, and teaching of Czech culture and history. We exist to preserve, promote, and support efforts to perpetuate the Czech culture, history, customs, and traditions in the United States. CIAO is for anyone who wants to learn more about Czech Culture and Heritage.

MISSION STATEMENT

To foster the appreciation, understanding, and teaching of the rich and unique history of Czechs and, by example and through programs and activities, encourage and promote research, preservation, and publication of historical material affecting Czechs in America.

GOALS

To act as a point of contact for people from the Czech Republic.
To be a resource for Americans interested in the Czech Republic.
To develop and sponsor the translation of Czech literature to English, educational courses, literary circles, concerts, exhibits, symposia, and publish Czech-American authors and their stories.
To develop engaging programs of outreach for Czech Americans and the general public.
To maintain content-rich websites that strengthen the Czech community in America.
To partner with embassies, government agencies, Universities, other Czech groups and/or cultural organizations to bring Czech exhibits, artists, performing groups, and speakers to America.
To promote business relationships between America and the Czech Republic.
To help facilitate exchange programs for students, teachers, and professionals.
To initiate, encourage, and support research into, and public understanding of, the history and cultures of the Czech Republic, from the earliest of times to modern day.
To support and participate in efforts to protect, preserve, and present to the public the historic and cultural heritage of the Czech Republic
To raise awareness of Czech people’s assimilation into the Americas due to forced immigration in several distinct waves and time periods in history.

We urgently need your help to accomplish these ambitious goals. You provide the means to complete new projects, publish historical materials, and improve and document Czech history and culture for future generations.
